Queen Elizabeth II was born Princess Elizabeth Alexandra Mary on April 21, 1926, in London, England. When her father, King George VI, died in 1952, Elizabeth suddenly became Queen of the entire British Empire. Her coronation took place in 1953, when she was officially crowned Queen Elizabeth II, royal sovereign of the United Kingdom. In 2015, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II became the longest reigning monarch in Great Britain's history. This year, the entire world joins in celebration of her Sapphire Jubilee marking her 65th Anniversary on the throne.
