Mechanicsburg, PA – American Mint, LLC President Kevin Sacher proudly announced the release of a new coin produced for the rapidly approaching 125-year anniversary of the formal dedication of the Statue of Liberty. American Mint produced high quality "Proof" coins for the special event, available in solid silver, solid gold, or gold-layered.
"We′re excited to bring this new product to commemorate one of the most important events in American history," Sacher said. Available exclusively from American Mint, the coins are limited to just 9,999 complete collections.
Arguably the most recognized universal symbol of freedom, the Statue of Liberty was formally dedicated on Bedloe′s Island in New York Harbor on October 28, 1886, with 2011 marking her 125th anniversary. The statue was designed by artist Frederic A. Bartholdi, and given as a gift from the French to the American people as an international symbol of friendship. Often affectionately shorted to "Lady Liberty," her full name translated from French is "Liberty Enlightening the World."
