This version featured two reverse designs — Longacre's original eagle and a second one created by Anthony C. Paquet. The Paquet design closely resembles Longacre's work except for a few minor details. The Paquet 1861 Double Eagle Gold Coin did not last long, as the Longacre piece became the preferred option.
